What is the Series 7 exam?
The Series 7 is FINRA's General Securities Representative Qualification Examination. Passing it licenses you to sell a broad range of securities products. The exam is organized into four major job functions covering prospecting and communications; opening accounts and evaluating suitability; products, recommendations, taxation and records; and order handling, settlement and transactions.
Do I also need the SIE exam?
Yes. The Series 7 is a representative-level exam, and FINRA requires you to also pass the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam to obtain the registration. Our companion app Handy SIE covers that exam.
